Manchester Collective & Fergus McCreadie trio
Music, emotions, and experience
Manchester Collective creates artistic projects that defy definition, inspired by the music they love. Their performances are open to everyone—from seasoned music lovers to those who rarely attend concerts. The ensemble is composed of virtuoso musicians who are constantly searching for new forms of expression.
Since its inception in 2016, the group has been developing at a dizzying pace, with a mission to shape the future of classical music. Jasmine Kent Rodgman and Rakhi Singh—who lead the ensemble—boldly bypass well-trodden musical paths, reaching for classical repertoire as well as contemporary and popular music. Manchester Collective is not afraid of experiments or bold genre combinations; they are open-minded and courageous. The artists perform in a wide variety of spaces, ranging from concert halls to warehouses, and from nightclubs to festival stages.
At the Break in Classic festival, the ensemble will perform alongside the Fergus McCreadie Trio, presenting a program that is part of their joint project, The Unfurrowed Field. In this performance, the artists will seamlessly blend elements of Scottish folk music with jazz.
Other exceptional projects realized by Manchester Collective include:
- The Oracle with South African cellist Abel Selaocoe
- Rosewood with guitarist Sean Shibe
- A multimedia performance of Michael Gordon's Weather featuring a sound installation by Chris Watson
